US And EU Meet To Discuss About Online Gambling Violations

The US has been avoiding a mandate by the European Union to correct their flawed online gambling laws.

The US has been in violation of European Union trade agreements since they have cracked down on Internet gambling. The EU has given the US a grace period to correct their laws.

The EU has conducted an investigation that culminated earlier this year in a letter sent to the US.

EU Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton said: “Today was not a day to resolve any problems, but rather to set out the approach we are going to take, who would do what, and to agree to keep in touch,” .

Ashton, along with US Trade Representative Ron Kirk agreed to tackle the issues in the coming months.

Two British online gambling companies are poised to benefit from a $12 billion betting bonanza in the US amid growing signs America will overturn a ban on internet gaming to boost falling tax receipts.

Goldman Sachs said UK-listed PartyGaming and 888 were positioned to re-enter the potentially massive market.

The biggest push for lifting the ban came from Congress, where Barney Frank,

Frank’s bill has attracted support, particularly at a time when the credit crisis has blown a multi-billion-dollar hole in the US finances.

Kentucky lawmakers are going into a special session tomorrow in the hopes of finalizing a budget for the state.

Governor Steve Beshear attempted to seize domain names to 141 online gambling sites. When he was unsuccessful in doing that, he moved along to pushing for expanded gambling at the tracks but now, he is pushing for gambling expansion.

The racetracks now need for some help because without video slot gambling, the racing industry in Kentucky will continue to suffer.

Kentucky
lawmakers had hoped that the leader of their state would have had a more in depth plan for expanding gambling.

The session begins tomorrow, and key questions need to be answered.

PPA Has Achieved The Purpose In Trying To Resolve Access To Sites Internet Gambling

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the leading poker grassroots advocacy group with more than one million members nationwide declared victory over the application of Internet Service Providers, which provides access to sites internet gambling . Representative Pat Garofalo indicated that the matter was closed after the legal standing to issue the notices was reconsidered.
Garofalo said this is a big day for Internet freedom in putting the issue up a regulatory framework and licensing of online gaming industry.

Illinois Legislators Approved A New Bill Allowing The State To Participate In Online Gambling

This week the Illinois legislators approved a new bill allowing the state to participate in online gambling, but this law is considering only  horse race betting and not gambling in casinos or online games.
The bill was easily approved by the House with a difference of 87 to 27 in favor of the law, but proved as much of the bill included the expansion and online gambling to allow the casino to offer games luck online. This project was rejected by the Senate vote.

Illinois lawmakers are still unsure about the new rules that will be affected by the UIGEA illegal, what do to transfer funds from banks to gambling online sites.

The new law will break UIGEA federal law allows money to be transferred from banks and online bookmakers, any earnings paid directly to the winners and then went back to the players bank account.

A House committee approved  ban on smoking in all bars, restaurants and other workplaces, except for Detroit’s casinos and smoke shops statewide.

The House committee vote sets up another complex interchange between the House and Senate.

House Speaker Andy Dillon said,:”I would bet it gets done this year”.

Also  Andy Dillon said he supports a smoking ban exemption for the gambling floors of casinos only, but not the restaurants and  bars or other.

Barney Frank Want To Propose A Bill Which Aims To Lift The Restrictions In SUA Over Online Gambling

The Barney Frank  chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, propose a bill  which aims to lift the restrictions in the United States over online gambling.

Barney Frank introduced this bill to make it legal again for credit card companiesand banks to make payments to online gambling sites.The bill intends to ensure and safeguard that online gamblers are at least 18 years old and live in a state that permits online gambling, while preventing fraud and compulsive gambling.

Frank  have the support of online poker, blackjack and roulette players and he states that online gambling services should be regulated rather than outlawed.

Under the terms of the bill, the US Treasury Department would license online gaming operators and retain the power to revoke the licence of any firms found guilty of violating the law.

Although Mr Frank’s proposal faces strong opposition from Republican groups, Evolution Securities analyst Ivor Jones told Reuters that the bill is likely to boost online gambling firms even if it ultimately fails.

Casino Operations Make Tribe Biggest Employer

In all the world people are losing their jobs in record numbers, this is the result of a global recession, and the immediate future does not look promising for many new jobs.

But if you live in Fremont County, Wyoming. The Northern Arapaho Tribe is now reporting that through their casino and other business interests, they have become the biggest employer in the county.

Casino operations alone for the tribe employ 560 workers and the tribe is not looking to cut jobs.

Observer Wyatt Grienke said: “At a time when so many people are losing their security at their jobs, it is great to see that at least in one area of the state of Wyoming that job security is not an issue,”.

The Riverton school district had been the largest employer with 520 employees.

Many casinos, including those in the biggest gambling states of New Jersey and Nevada, have had to downsize their operations because of the economy.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety have attempted to ban their residents from accessing Internet gambling websites.

The state of Kentucky went directly after the online gambling sites. They petitioned the court to seize 141 online gambling domain names. They won in the lower courts, but lost in the Court of Appeals.

Representative Pat Garofalo on Monday responded to the call for blockage by submitting legislation of his own.
