The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) who  led a fight against the UIGEA in September 2006. Following the conflict rules of online poker is voted as one of the priorities for the White House.
PPA has over one million members nationwide who are all online players who have suffered after the ban due to UIGEA.
PPA Executive Director John Pappas had the following to say on the issue “of online poker popularity continues to grow, and the fact that poker is the top technology issue – and the 11th overall problem – it proves that it is not a niche.
This alliance is a clear indication that the players of poker America are willing to steal a safe place to play online poker.

The Barney Frank  chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, propose a bill  which aims to lift the restrictions in the United States over online gambling.

Barney Frank introduced this bill to make it legal again for credit card companiesand banks to make payments to online gambling sites.The bill intends to ensure and safeguard that online gamblers are at least 18 years old and live in a state that permits online gambling, while preventing fraud and compulsive gambling.

Frank  have the support of online poker, blackjack and roulette players and he states that online gambling services should be regulated rather than outlawed.

Under the terms of the bill, the US Treasury Department would license online gaming operators and retain the power to revoke the licence of any firms found guilty of violating the law.

Although Mr Frank’s proposal faces strong opposition from Republican groups, Evolution Securities analyst Ivor Jones told Reuters that the bill is likely to boost online gambling firms even if it ultimately fails.
